How to care for preserved moss murals, art and branding

Having an indoor moss mural, art or branding made of moss is almost like having an artificial one. While it looks and feels perfectly real, you may be surprised to learn it doesn’t need any care. This is because the moss your green creation is made from is preserved. Preserved moss is not technically alive, but is able to maintain its healthy looks thanks to careful treatments meant to conserve its original state. You won’t have to spend any time on it once it’s installed, just remember these tips for caring for it:

No Need to Water
Preserved moss doesn’t need water, as its condition renders it maintenance-free. It will forever flourish all on its own, with no effort needed from you. All you have to do is hang it up and enjoy!

Maintenance Free
Besides not having to water it, you also never have to fertilize it and you won’t have to worry about moving it in and out of sunlight. Preserved moss doesn’t grow, so you won’t have to trim it back either.

Direct sunlight
Your moss wall doesn’t need sunlight to thrive. You want to be sure it doesn’t get too much direct sunlight throughout the day, because of the vibrancy and colour this plant will lose as a result of too much light.

Ideal humidity levels
It is not recommended to place preserved moss in direct line of a heat pump, above a radiator or fire place. The ideal humidity levels for moss to stay soft is between 40 – 80%. Overtime a heat source may result in the moss losing its vibrancy. On extreme dry or hot days, the moss may dry out slightly but it will bounce back once the humidity increases.

Touching moss
Preserved moss has a high touch-me degree, however is best kept with minimum touching. It is soft and bouncy under the right conditions but may become brittle on dry days.
